These tried and tested substrates have been carefully developed and used over years within our own successful terrarium builds, and contain a special blend of ingredients combined to encourage long term success.
Ideal for both closed and open terrariums, Ladyfern's very own soil mix ensures a neutral PH delivering available essential nutrients and minerals all within a light and airy mix. Unlike most terrarium blends on the market, our blend is sphagnum and peat moss free, both non-renewable resources we believe should be avoided. The ingredients provide excellent moisture retention and balanced drainage, ideal for encouraging natural processes much like a miniature ecosystem.
In this kit you will receive enough substrates to create a medium sized terrarium around 20cm in diameter or a few smaller terrariums. This kit does not include the glass so it’s perfect if you already have a glass jar or vase ready to be transformed into a stunning living art piece.
Ideal for use with humidty loving miniature plants and cuttings. This kit is suitable for a range of plant varieties commonly sold as indoor plants including ferns, fittonia, syngoniums, and calathea to name just a few.
We’ve measured this kit with a classic glass fishbowl design in mind, however you can get creative and make a terrarium in almost any shaped container.
All our kits are handmade in small batches and arrive thoughtfully put together with eco-friendly packaging so it not only looks cute but won’t hurt the environment - perfectly ready for gifting!
