Horticultural charcoal is an organic matter packed full of carbon and natural phenols which aid in preventing plant disease caused by mould and certain bacteria.

The chunky, light weight composition makes for a great addition to soils, enhancing drainage and encouraging strong root development.

Horticultural charcoal can be blended with other media to create an excellent mix for orchid epiphytes, and aroids in particular which require increased aeration to their root system.

We recommend adding a layer of horticultural charcoal when making terrariums as they will benefit long term by the natural purification properties and enhanced drainage provided.
